Melanie Stultz-Backus

An original Vermonter

Biography: I'm a Vermonter, having been born in Burlington and grown up in Burlington and Williston.  I've lived in New York, California, and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  Since 1979, I've lived in Addison County.  I graduated with a BA in English and American Literature from the University of California at San Diego, and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from The University of Vermont.

Teaching is my vocation; teaching writing and literature has been a lifelong effort and experiment.  I have worked at Mount Abraham since the fall of 1987, and count my membership in this dynamic community as a crucial element of my life, my work, my fulfillment and my growth.
